cHASE YOUR DREAMS...

Schools

From hobby to career, schools offer a chance to learn something new and open endless possibilities for the next generation of scientific breakthroughs. The interactive map shown here list many undergraduate and graduate degrees. This does not encompass them all but does list quite a few in hopes of getting you started on your research for higher education in chasing your dreams and your passion. Note: Not all may meet NWS criteria, see here for more.

Note: Some schools *may NOT* meet NWS criteria / accreditation. Check with schools, NWS and other accredited institutions before proceeding! This may affect future career opportunities.

HAVING TROUBLE IN CLASS?

You are not the first. Don't give up on your passion or ambitions due to a class. If you knew it already there wouldn't be colleges to attend, libraries to learn, or the internet! Here are just a few examples from professional meteorologist and other scientist who had trouble in their own studies:

"...I failed my first college physics exam. That didn't stop me from getting a physics degree. Nor Atmospheric Science degrees after that." -Dr. K.W. (Tweet 12/10/2020)

"I was told my freshman year...that I should consider a different major because I "wasn't good at math". Yea I retook Calc 3. So what? I'm now a graduate and employed as a Meteorologist." -E.M. (Tweet 12/10/2020)

"My high school math teacher told me I was not good at math and to not go into a science field. A in Calc 2 and OU Metr. grad" -D.S. (Tweet 12/10/2020)

"I took Calc 1 and failed miserably despite working as hard as I could and getting a tutor. I came back to graduate with a degree in Atmospheric Science and another degree in Earth Science. Don't give up it it's what you are passionate about!" -S. (Tweet 12/11/2020)

"Math was NEVER my thing and I have struggled with it my entire life and in May I'll be graduating with a Meteorology degree and a minor in Math! It's my love of Meteorology that helped me through the tough times." -L.D. (Tweet 12/10/2020)

"I failed Pre-Calc once, Calc 3 once, and Physics three times and still managed to graduate in 4 years. Yes, it was the hardest thing I've ever done, but I'll never regret my Meterology degree!" -J.S. (Tweet 12/10/2020)

"To all of the Meterology students out there: I got a D- in my first Physics class. I had to drop Calc 3 and retake it. I struggled to pass Atmospheric Dynamics. And I still earned my degree. If you need to retake a class, that is absolutely okay. You've got this!" -K.N. (Tweet 8/22/2023)

An odd opportunity to actually have conversations with scientist in fields you are looking to branch into. (Be aware of the social media drawbacks, opinions, theories, mental health, etc. and take breaks!)

Volunteer to engage in community preparedness for before, during and after an emergency.
