My app says 30mph winds, I'm good??

Not necessarily. Unless you know where the app is pulling it's forecast data from, an app may do more harm than good.

None of my apps say Hurricane winds, so ya, I'm good.

Most apps pull their forecast data from weather API services. These commercial systems typically use one of the dozens of weather models out there or an in-house blend. Remember those sketti models?

So which model is your app pulling??

Trust the humans. NHC typ does better than any single weather model.

We all want to know what will it be like at my house. Will it flood? Will the winds be bad?

In the top left corner there's a box you can enter your zip code or city, state for location.

On your location page there may be a red box near the top of page that has some Hurricane specific text products. This may include Tropical Storm, Hurricane and/or Storm Surge Watch/Warning, Flood information, wind alerts, etc.

Mandatory/Volunteer evacuation decisions are made by local government (in US). Tune into your local news (tv/radio) for latest information. They may also post on social media (be sure to check date/time as the situation may change). Evacuations are typically based on potential storm surge flooding risk but may also include camp grounds or RV parks due to insufficient protection those offer.
